FFL FIREARM TRANSFERS / GUN TRANSFER AGENT MAINE
UPDATED 10/09/2024

FAST, FRIENDLY, AND REASONABLY PRICED FFL TRANSFERS

Please note before making your purchase online check out our prices and inventory. Our inventory is updated in real time so it is always up to date. https://www.mainegundealer.com/View-All-Firearms-In-Stock-Maine.html  When we set our pricing we look at online pricing. Chances are we are selling the same firearm for the same price if not lower than online prices. We do the same when we price our accessories. We will not compete with online businesses but we want your business and try to price firearms fairly so you can keep your business local. Of course you can buy something face to face and have a local dealer back you up if there is a problem with the firearm. Beware of some online retailers selling used or reconditioned firearms as new. I have had my customers have this issue in the past. Either way we value you as a customer and will treat you right.

TAKING EFFECT ON AUGUST 9TH 2024
LD. 2224 An Act to Strengthen Public Safety by Improving Maine's Firearm Laws and Mental Health System. This will require background checks on ALL advertised firearms sales (such as Uncle Henry's or other online or newspaper ads). See the FFL TRANSFERS PAGE for more info. This legislation takes effect on August 9th 2024.

LD 2238 "An Act to Address Gun Violence in Maine by Requiring a 72 Hour Waiting Period for Certain Firearm Purchases"

Maine 72 Hour Firearms Waiting Period Policy

See our procedure below as ours may be different from other shops. We have a lot of information on this page to cover any questions you may have. Once you go through the process and transfer one gun through us you will find out how simple it is. We have regular customers that transfer firearms through us and are very pleased. We try to make it as easy and simple as possible. Our FFL transfer fees are much less than most shops in the area.

TRANSFER FEE: For Online Purchases or Private Sale between two parties. Not including new firearms or receivers (matching mfg number only) we have in stock. : $30.00 Credit or Debit ($25.00 CASH PRICE) per firearm / frame / receiver NEXT DAY PICK UP OR LATER

PROOF OF PURCHASE & 72 HOUR DELAY: NEW! If you want to avoid the 72 hour delay please read. PLEASE PICK UP 4 DAYS AFTER THE FIREARM IS PURCHASED. Since I have no idea what time you purchased the firearm(s) online waiting 4 days covers this. Sometimes handguns get here within 3 days. Please supply a printed receipt for me to keep on file with the 4473 as proof of the agreement between the buyer and seller. The customer will have to be prepared and have a copy of the receipt sometimes they are included in the shipment but not always. This includes private online sales also. I am not going to keep charging a low price for transfer if I have to chase down receipts and have to print off receipt as this adds cost and time. If you email me a receipt (instead of printing one off) on the day (preferred) you are picking up the firearm(s) I will charge a $1.00 per receipt. Does it cost that much? No, but I have my time involved also. Remember I charge a higher transfer fee for firearms I have in stock so check inventory before you buy.

EXPEDITED SAME DAY AS DELIVERED PICK UP TRANSFER FEE: If you insist on picking up your firearm on the SAME DAY it is received : $40.00 per firearm / frame / receiver I usually do not get to shipments until after I close or the next morning. I am one person I do not have time to process something the second the item is delivered. Please have patience. Check your tracking number and pick up the next business day please.

IN STOCK TRANSFER FEE: For ONLINE purchases of new firearms or receivers we have in stock. (NO FEE IF YOU BUY FROM US) Check our inventory before purchasing online to avoid this higher fee. (matching mfg oem part number only scroll down for more info) : $45.00 per firearm / frame / receiver
https://www.mainegundealer.com/View-All-Firearms-In-Stock-Maine.html also see https://www.mainegundealer.com/Guns-Coming-Soon.html

REFUSED ITEM FEE: If a firearm comes in and you refuse it and want it shipped back at the sellers expense or you are Denied on the background check : $30.00 Credit or Debit ($25.00 CASH PRICE) per firearm / frame / receiver

MULTIPLE HANDGUN TRANSFER CHARGE: (For online purchases or private sale between two parties totaling 2 handguns or more within 5 consecutive business days) This charge is for a separate form that needs to be emailed to the ATF by end of business day and mailed to the Penobscot County Sheriffs Office by the next day. : $25.00 Credit or Debit ($20.00 CASH PRICE) THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSFER FEE SHOWN ABOVE. (Not charged if you purchase firearms from us)

STORAGE FEE: Due to limited storage space, firearms left on site for greater than 60 days will be charged an additional $25.00 Credit or Debit ($20.00 CASH PRICE) per month thereafter per firearm / frame / receiver.

If the seller packs the gun(s) in styrofoam peanuts, shredded newspaper, or similar material, there is a $20 unpacking/cleanup fee. FYI - You will be given the peanuts that are not stuck to me and everything else in the shop. The firearm will be back in the box with the peanuts I can fit back in the box. Request at the time of purchase that the shipper does not use peanuts when shipping your firearm.
Auction companies and some that sell on gun broker use peanuts. Large retailers rarely use them. These things create a huge mess and adds tons of time in unpacking and clean up. They are a totally unnecessary form of packing material.
